From Addition to Graduation
Las Vegas West Rotary was treated to an inspiring story at our luncheon yesterday. Suzanne Strosser from Mission High School talked to us about their unique school that helps teens struggling with addiction graduate high school and set themselves up for a healthy and successful life.
Founded in 2017, Mission High School started out with one student on its first day. They had two by end of day, and it grew from there to its student body of 37 today. That first student graduated on time last year - after coming into the school with just 2.5 credits - and she currently attends Community College of Southern Nevada.
The first entirely publicly funded school of its kind in the nation, Mission High Schools mission is to help students struggling with addiction with recovery, relationships and a rigorous educational curriculum with both regular and advanced courses.
